Middle School Sunday School
Sunday School happens each week from 9:45-10:45. Those 8th graders preparing to join the church in the spring will have Confirmation during the Sunday School hour each week. Any 8th grader not participating in the Confirmation Class, as well as those youth in 6th or 7th grade, will meet in the downstairs youth room for Sunday School. We will spend this school year studying the Old Testament. As we study the Old Testament this year, we will look at how God has been at work in people's lives from the beginning, revealing His character, love, and plan of redemption.
Confirmation
At Confirmation, a child who has been raised in the Christian faith publicly confesses (confirms) that faith. The Confirmation class is intended to prepare that child for Confirmation by helping the child review, encounter, and examine what God has revealed about Himself and his love for each of us. The course also helps the child to consider what it means to be a cherished child of God, filled and empowered by the Holy Spirit and glorifying God with a life of joyful service and gratitude.
The course is framed by the Apostles Creed. Students will examine each part of the creed -- and the scriptures on which the statement of faith is based-- and engage in various activities that help them to understand the rich meanings behind the statements of belief. The class format will include discussion, games, reflective writing, assessments, and guest speakers. Each class will include a time of prayer.
