2010 Summer Mission Trip
RESTORATION PROJECT: New Orleans
Restoration is a new project that has been designed to challenge students that BEING in Christ, leads to DOING the work of Christ, which ultimately leads to being the FAMILY of Christ. The Restoration Project will allow students to experience this rhythm of life culturally, spiritually, and physically . The ministry consists of having students better understand who they are in Christ and what Christ calls them to be in the world. It is also designed to help them understand that being in Christ will lead them to be active in doing and being involved with others, especially the poor, the oppressed, and the overlooked. With this goal in mind, Restoration goes into a local community, establishes relationships with ministries and individuals by partnering with the local community. Restoration is a wonderful opportunity to combine fun, fellowship and service with the purpose of continuing this daily rhythm in each student's community and throughout their lives.
The average day will be split up into thirds. The first "third" will focus on Being God's people through spiritual disciplines and biblical literacy. The second "third" is all about Being God's people through service by doing His work within a community. Finally we will experience Being a part of God's family through worshiping, laughing, processing, and ultimately growing together in Christ.
Travel Details
Friday July 23rd
We will leave Blacknall at 5am and head towards Atlanta, GA. We will arrive at Six Flags around noon and stay until 7pm.
After leaving Six Flags we will grab dinner and spend the night in a hotel about an hour outside of Atlanta.
Saturday July 24th
We will leave our hotel at 8am and arrive in New Orleans around 3pm.
Saturday July 31st
We will leave New Orleans at 6am and return to Blacknall around 8pm.
Additional Details
Cost
The total cost of this trip is $395. This includes everything except for meals while we are traveling. Your child will need to have money for 7 meals as well as spending money for the week.
Deposit
Return your form with a $100 deposit to hold your child’s spot. Spaces are limited. Please make checks payable to Blacknall.
Parent Meeting
We will have a parent meeting on June 29th at 6:30pm. Remaining trip costs are due at this meeting.
